Fatal Concrete Truck Plunge from Beltway 8 Overpass Claims One Life, Injures Two Others

A catastrophic accident unfolded during Tuesday morning’s rush hour on December 10, when a concrete truck plunged from the Sam Houston Tollway overpass, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries in a five-vehicle accident. The incident occurred just before 9 a.m., causing significant traffic disruption.

Precinct 4 Constables Office Captain Michael James reported that the concrete truck first collided with a meal delivery truck on the tollway before breaching the barrier wall and falling onto the road below. The concrete truck driver was killed in the crash, while the meal delivery truck driver, though initially in critical condition, is now expected to recover.

The accident caused additional damage when a metal camera pole, knocked down by the falling concrete truck, struck a Toyota Camry. The Camry’s driver was hospitalized with a concussion but is expected to survive. Local worker Octavia Roberts, who witnessed the aftermath, remarked, “Falling off of the overpass is insane.”
