On December 19, 2024, a devastating incident occurred at ExcellED Montessori Plus Preschool in Bexar County, Texas, resulting in the deaths of a 22-year-old teacher and a 1-year-old child.
The accident happened during the afternoon following a holiday performance at the school. A parent inadvertently accelerated into another car, causing both vehicles to crash through the school fence into the playground where children and teachers were present. The tragic collision resulted in a teacher being pinned beneath vehicles and ultimately pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, five more children, all aged one, were severely injured and taken to the nearby hospital. One of the children remained in critical condition and sadly succumbed to her injuries two weeks later after the tragic incident.
Authorities believe the crash was a tragic accident, possibly resulting from a medical episode experienced by the driver. Sheriff Javier Salazar stated that there was no indication of intoxication or criminal intent.
