Workers Injured in Oil Refinery Gas Leak File Lawsuit Against Facility Owner and Operator

Houston, Texas (October 14, 2024) — Houston attorney Mo Aziz, a partner at the law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner, has filed a lawsuit against Deer Perk Refining, LP and P.M.I. Services North America, Inc., following an oil refinery gas leak in Deer Park that injured several on October 10, 2024.

The leak occurred around 4:20 p.m. at the PEMEX Oil Refinery in Deer Park, Texas. Operating as a crude oil refinery, the facility began to uncontrollably release highly flammable and toxic gases into the atmosphere in and around the refinery. One of the gases that leaked from the refinery was Hydrogen Sulfide. This extremely harmful gas can cause severe injuries to those exposed to it. Several workers at the facility were subjected to inhaling these poisonous gases.

Attorney Mo Aziz commented on the lawsuit, “If owners and operators of oil refineries follow the proper policies and procedures designed to protect people, then the release of highly toxic gases does not happen.” For questions regarding the lawsuit or interview requests, please contact Geoffrey Adkinson at gadkinson@awtxlaw.com or 713-222-7211.
